History of

Toddy Hollow Farm

Grandchildren and Horses...there is no other ego trip that compares!

Here at Toddy Hollow Farm we are afforded the seclusion, tranquility and natural peace of the land. We share it with our 10 horses, 3 guard dogs, barn cats and the wildlife of Middle Tennessee.

Our Granddaughter, Elizabeth with Creek.

The first Morgan I owned was “Lord Canton”. He was our foundation sire and was acquired as part of a trade for a sailboat in 1979. In 1982 my daughters, Mary Ann, Louise, and I purchased this 130 acre farm. The farm started out as a huge 4-H project. We had a small herd of registered Polled Herefords, Yorkshire and Hampshire hogs, Morgan Horses and chickens. As the girls got older their interest shifted, by 1989 only the horses were left. Leaving the door open for greater things to come!

In the fall of 1989 the farm acquired the addition of Denis, the husband, barn custodian (poor guy) and nutritionist and his three children, Penly, Jennifer and Sean. And a lovely mare, Infinity Ebony Lady. The farm forever changed!

Sweet hands of love!

The combination of Lord Canton and Infinity Ebony Lady were brush strokes by God’s hand. The farm was blessed with eight beautiful foals before the passing of Lord Canton in April 2004 at the age of 29. The torch then was passed to his sons, Canton’s Lord George and Canton’s Sonfield.

A change on the horizon: I took Denis on a short 13 mile trail ride, after; Denis declared that his seat could never endure that kind of pain again. So, for several years he watched from the sidelines. In 1994 Denis
had the brilliant idea to bring driving to Toddy Hollow! Once again, a change that forever altered the farm. Lyle Pertersen, an extremely kind and generous man, came into our lives dripping with the know-how that has brought us to where we are today. And thus adding depth to Toddy Hollow Farm!!!

After 30 years of serving as an engineer for the Army, I retired in 2004 and started my life long dream as a full time farmer! Denis is a consultant and still actively works from home and the law office.

Currently, Denis and I (in our late 60’s) actively participate in Combined Driving Events and ridden dressage all across the southeast.

Between the two of us we have 3 Children; Jennifer, Mary Ann, and Louise and their wonderful spouses Ed, Andy, and Clark. We have been blessed with 12 grandchildren ranging in age from 29 to 5.
4 grandsons: Gerry, Josh , Jon, and William.
8 granddaughters: Jamie, Elizabeth, Lindsey, Emily, Ragan, Keely, Briley Grace and Maggie Grace.

We also have two extremely special people, Crawford and Jena, that have been like children to us and have contributed significantly to the farm and our lives with their presence and help; we are forever grateful!

We are very proud of our family and
each one is a huge part of who we are!

This is Toddy Hollow Farm!!!
